The EU Soil Observatory (EUSO) Stakeholder Forum 2026, titled “The Role of AI to Achieve Healthy Soils by 2050”, will take place online on 25 June 2026. The annual forum brings together policymakers, scientists, local actors, civil society representatives, and citizens to exchange knowledge and discuss innovative approaches for sustainable soil management.
Among the featured speakers, Dr. Ibrahim Khalil (University College Dublin) will deliver a presentation entitled “Toward AI-Driven Precision Soil Health: Leveraging MODASYS to Map the Future of Climate-Smart Agriculture.” His talk will highlight the role of AI and digital decision-support tools in advancing sustainable and climate-smart agricultural practices.

Dr. Ibrahim Khalil Participated in Tools4CAP EU-Level Focus Group Meeting

Dr. Khalil, Coordinator of the HOLOSEU Project, participated in the Tools4CAP EU-Level Focus Group Meeting held on 28 May 2026 at ECORYS. The meeting brought together EU representatives, project leads, and stakeholders to discuss the transition from CAP Strategic Plans to the CAP chapter within the National and Regional Partnership Plans (NRPPs), with a focus on practical tools to support implementation under the evolving EU policy framework.
After the event, Dr. Khalil introduced the MODASYS platform as a decision-support tool for sustainable land-use planning and CAP-related applications. Discussions highlighted the growing importance of integrated modelling and digital tools in supporting climate-smart, evidence-based agricultural policy development.

HOLOSEU Mid-Term Meeting Successfully Concluded in Bucharest

The first day of the HOLOSEU Project Mid-Term Meeting successfully concluded today at the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine of Bucharest, bringing together consortium partners to review progress and plan the next phases of the project.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ibrahim Khalil and focused on assessing achievements across the project to date. Partners highlighted the significant progress made in implementing project activities and delivering key outputs. The consortium reported that the majority of planned tasks and deliverables are advancing according to schedule, demonstrating the strong commitment and effective collaboration among all participating organisations.
Funded through the ICT-AGRI-FOOD programme and supported by national funding agencies from seven European countries, HOLOSEU continues to foster innovative approaches for the development of sustainable and resilient agri-food systems. The discussions provided an important opportunity for partners to exchange knowledge, review milestones, and coordinate future activities, ensuring the successful delivery of the project objectives during the remaining implementation period.
World Café Workshop Explores Future Development of MODASYS

The second day of the HOLOSEU Project Mid-Term Meeting featured an engaging and collaborative World Café Workshop, bringing project partners together to explore future developments and innovations within the project framework. Dr. Ibrahim Khalil, Coordinator, introduced the MODASYS framework and its functionalities, followed by a live demonstration by Mr Badhan Sen, showcasing its input requirements and predictive capabilities (outputs).

Discussions, facilitated by Prof. Jan Lindner, Dr. Ana Butcaru, Dr. Ariane V.-Slavinsky, and Mr Badhan Sen, focused on the ongoing development of MODASYS and its role in supporting evidence-based decision-making in agri-environmental systems. Participants explored opportunities to integrate a biodiversity module into the framework and digital twin, incorporating biodiversity indicators and ecosystem services to enhance sustainability assessments. The workshop also considered the potential development of a mobile application to improve stakeholder access, user interaction, and real-time data collection & prediction. The interactive discussions fostered knowledge exchange and collaboration, providing valuable insights for the HOLOSEU project.
Field Visits and Demonstrations Conclude Productive HOLOSEU Meeting

The HOLOSEU Project Mid-Term Meeting concluded with a series of horticultural laboratory demonstrations and field visits, providing partners with valuable opportunities to observe innovative agricultural practices and research activities in action. Hosted at Moara Domnească, participants visited facilities and experimental sites covering a wide range of agricultural sectors, including dairy production, crop cultivation, fruit production, agroecology, and remote sensing applications.


The visits showcased practical examples of sustainable agricultural management and technological innovation relevant to the objectives of the HOLOSEU project. The field programme complemented the discussions held during the previous meeting sessions, allowing partners to connect research concepts with real-world applications and explore opportunities for future collaboration. The three-day meeting in Bucharest provided a productive and inspiring environment for knowledge exchange, strategic planning, and innovation. By combining technical discussions, collaborative workshops, and practical demonstrations, the event strengthened the consortium’s shared commitment to advancing sustainable and resilient agri-food systems across Europe.
